Kindergym Junior

Kindergym Junior is a class which is designed for both boys and girls aged 18mths to 3 years. These classes aim to develop children’s dominant movement patterns of statics, landing, spring, locomotion, rotation and swing along with development of gross motor skills in a fun and enjoyable way. The classes run for 45 mins in which the coaches lead the parent/carer through a range of activities (including songs and games) allowing children to explore in the safe environment of the gym.

Kindergym Senior

Kindergym senior is a class which is designed for both boys and girls aged 4 to 5 years. These classes are similar to kindergym junior in that they aim to develop children’s dominant movement patterns of statics, landing, spring, locomotion, rotation and swing along with development of gross motor skills in a fun and enjoyable way. These classes differ from Kindergym Junior in that they encourage children’s independence in exploring, in the safety of the gym. The classes run for 1 hour, in which parents and carers are involved for the first 15 mins, the children are then encouraged to work with the coaches for the remainder of the class. Children will be involved in many fun and engaging activities including songs, games, obstacle courses and much more.

Gym Fun

Gymfun classes are for both boys and girls, prep age (5) - 6 years old, with a class size of approximately 8 - 10 gymnasts. These classes aim to develop children’s gross motor skills along with dominant movement patterns in a range of fun structured activities which introduces the basics of Gymnastics. During these classes children will be encouraged to participate in activities which improve flexibility, strength, muscular endurance, power and aerobic fitness. These classes challenge the children to become independent within their learning, developing their skills and behaviour required to continue through to either competitive or recreational WAG or MAG gymnastics.

Recreational Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG)

The recreational WAG program is designed for girls aged 7 years and older. Within these classes gymnasts learn the appropriate skills required to perform the routines as set by Queensland Gymnastics for the apparatus of Vault, Bars, Balance Beam and Floor. The coaches of these classes keep a close eye on the gymnasts’ development and will allow the gymnasts to progress to the higher level when necessary. ACGCI also holds a club competition twice a year in which all recreational gymnasts are invited to attend, these events are a great opportunity for the gymnasts to display their ability in a fun and relaxed environment, with each gymnast receiving a medal as recognition of their efforts.

Recreational Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG)

The recreational MAG program is designed for boys aged 7 years and older. Within these classes gymnasts learn the appropriate skills required to perform routines as set by Gymnastics Australia for the apparatus of Vault, High Bar, Parallel Bars, Floor, Rings and Pommel.

Competitive Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG)

The Competitive WAG program at ACGCI is an invitation-only program designed for girls who have shown talent within the sport. Within these squads gymnasts learn the appropriate skills required to perform routines as set by Queensland Gymnastics for the apparatus of Vault, Bars, Balance Beam and Floor. These gymnasts are then required to perform these routines at competitions both within and outside the club. ACGCI currently has squads for WAG levels 1 - 10 gymnasts.  The coaches of these classes keep a close eye on the gymnasts’ development and will allow the gymnasts to progress to the higher level/ squad when necessary. Places in squads are limited so gymnasts who are invited into a squad are expected to train diligently and behave appropriately otherwise they risk losing their place within the program.

Competitive Men's Artistic Gymnastics (MAG)

Within these squads gymnasts learn the appropriate skills required to perform routines as set by Gymnastics Australia for the apparatus of Vault, High Bar, Parallel Bars, Floor, Rings and Pommel. It's a class for anyone over the age of 16.
First class is a free trial - cost is $16.50 per lesson after that.
Lesson consists of a fitness warm-up working on some strength and coordination components that can be adapted for any skill level, followed by a group stretch.
We then discuss what the gymnast’s goals are i.e. to learn how to do tricks or gain fitness and strength.
